Vox Sneakers

Vox Sneakers

Kind of redundant this title that I chose, but that’s how the firm is called:) Moving on..

Vox Footwear is specialized on manufacturing skate apparel and accessories. They don’t really bother with other niches. It’s a small Californian firm that came to life sometime in 2005 as far as I could find. In other words, it’s understandable if you haven’t heard about if before.

Nevertheless, I actually saw this brand while shopping for sneakers, underwear or whatever. Never really caught my attention because I didn’t like the logo and the designs weren’t really that unique.

So why am I talking about Vox sneakers in the first place?

It’s because I really think that skaters should be wearing more than just Vans and DC Shoes. Let’s get rid of this cliché and give others a fighting chance.

I also found a really nice selection on ZapposVox Footwear Sneakers. Sure enough, there are quite a few positive reviews, begging the question: why didn’t I get a pair earlier?

Nevertheless, I really liked what I saw and of course, I’d be more than thrilled to test them for a couple of days.

I must admit, however, that there’s nothing that original with them. Really. If you change the label from Vox to Vans, you won’t be able to tell the difference. The only thing that’s different is the sole, which instead of the classic square, has a zig-zag model. Truly astronomical difference..

The price also doesn’t set them apart in any way. You’ll find them all in the $35-$50 range.

Now, I can’t say anything about how comfortable they are. But they couldn’t have fucked that up. Simply following skate shoe design principles you should come up with something at the very least decent. And the reviews do say that they nailed this one down.

Even if they weren’t comfortable, since you do tend to go through your skate shoes a little faster that with regular footwear, you’ll soon be able to get back to an already established brand.

What promotional tools do the use?

They sure as hell don’t have the money for big TV campaigns or other fancy stuff. So they do what every one else does: they sponsor a couple of skaters, send them to various competitions, film them and publish those puppies to the internet.

They actually have a dedicated section for videos on their websites. It’s cool to watch some of these kids doing tricks.

Here’s one of these masterpieces:

So, what’s the final word on Vox sneakers?

They sure are worth taking a look at. The world doesn’t revolve around Vans, no matter how awesome they are.  Vox is just as cool, even though they have fewer models to choose from.

So, take a look at this selection on Zappos and if you like any pair, go ahead and add it to the cart.
