Velcro sneakers are shoes that use the hook and loop fastener instead of laces.
The Velcro technology was invented in 1948 by George de Mestral and named it after the French words velours, meaning 'velvet', and crochet, meaning 'hook'. However, in “Men in Black”, “Powerpuffgirls” or “Star Trek”, they mention the invention is actually of alien origin, so we aren’t sure how Velcro was discovered in the first place.
What we know is that Velcro sneakers are just as good as the ones with laces. They are in fact easier and faster to put on. They are very safe; they’ll never fall off your foot while running unless the hook and loop are really worn off.
The hook and loop have a very powerful bond that will never break unless you pull it in a certain way to take to shoe off. They produce a distinctive sound and you won’t need to worry about people making bad jokes by tieing your shoelaces one to another.
If you’re interested in buying a pair of Velcro sneakers, go for it. They definitely are just as good as any other type, and even have some advantages.
