New Sneakers From Obey and Generic Surplus

The guys at Generic Surplus recently teamed up with Shepard Fairley of Obey Clothing to create one really cool and simple pair of sneakers for the summer.

Generic Surplus, which started its sneaker business in 2008, attempting to capture the true spirit of L.A., has shown in the last three years a rather elegant take of the world of sneakers, releasing numerous simple and yet sophisticated models.

Shepard Fairley started his own clothing company in 2001, seeing it as a great way to further explore his artistic talent. He’s had a long history in the art world, being one of the best known stencil painters in the world. Drawing inspiration from there and skateboarding, Generic Surplus has grown quickly to become one of the favorite brands of many.

Obey and Generic Surplus SneakersThe sneaker that these two brands have put together is just perfect for the summer. With that simple mesh upper, you could go on for a whole day and feel like you’re having a nice relaxing bare feet walk on the beach.

It comes in three colors: white, navy blue and maroon (or tobacco). Each sneaker has work boot laces, which gives it a rougher appearance. Cool!

The model will be launched in L.A. later this month, with a price tag of $65.
