How About a Pair of Nike Sneakers?

Nike sneakers were the first products manufactured by the company that will later become the world’s biggest apparel manufacturer, Nike.

Back in 1964, Bill Bowerman had the idea of producing cheap sports shoes that would be accessible to everyone. He was joined by Jeff Johnson and soon opened Nike’s first retail store in Santa Monica, California.

The company was named after the Greek goddess of victory, suggesting the bright future to come.

The Nike swoosh logo that is now recognized by everyone, found on all of Nike’s shoes, was created in 1971 by a young student, Carolyn Davidson, for only 35$. However, twelve years later she was fairly rewarded with a gold Swoosh ring with an imbedded diamond and a luncheon honoring her, along with an undisclosed amount of Nike stock, as recognition of her contribution to Nike’s success.

Nike sneakers’ popularity sky rocketed when the company signed a contract with basketball star Michael Jordan in 1984. The partnership led to the creation of the Air Jordan product line, the most successful in Nike’s history.

The popular slogan “Just do it” was first introduced in 1988 and had since appeared in almost all of Nike’s commercials. This slogan is almost as popular its swoosh logo found on all Nike shoes.

New manufacturing technologies were constantly introduced, such as the Shox, which is intended to increase the quality and durability of Nike sneakers.

The most popular shoes of all are the Nike Air Force Ones.
