Recycle Your Sneakers (OurSports Central)

(Central Islip, N.Y., Jan. 5, 2009) - Long Island Ducks team officials today announced that the organization has once again joined Keep Islip Clean in their efforts to recycle used sneakers for Nike's "Reuse-A-Shoe" program.

Nike Air Force Ones

Air Force Ones were the first shoes introduced by Nike to use their new air cushioning technology. Released in 1982, they became the most popular shoes of the early 80s.

Nike reissued them in the late 90s and they became No.1 again, up until the early 2000s. You could easily say that Nike Air Force Ones are the most popular sneakers of all time.

The Air Force One is a basketball sneaker that makes it easy to achieve high performance. No wonder why custom ones have been won by professional players such as Lebron James and Rasheed Wallace.

Numerous people purchase Air Force Ones from Nike, customize them with all theses great ideas, and then sell them on eBay or other places on the internet. They change the colors, the materials and even the swoosh logo, the company's distinctive sign.

There are various shoes that’ve been customized in the national flags or other markings. In Italy there is even a specialized atelier, which replaces the material with the finest Italian leather.
