The New Balance 701 is an aggressive outdoor activity shoe for men designed for trail running, climbing, mountain biking and any rugged outdoor sport activity.
It is one of the most attractive shoes in its category, which earned valuable points in reviews.
With the 701, New Balance introduced new technologies in sneaker manufacturing. A special attention was given to the lacing system which ensures that you never accidentally untie your shoes when your in the middle of dangerous situation.
Other innovations include the underfoot protection shield, the heel shock-absorbing material, the midfoot web for torsion stability, and greater traction from different outsole compounds.
With all these novelties, the New Balance 701 turned out rather uncomfortable, especially the ankle sleeve that was supposed to block out debris but was actually leaving painful marks on the alkles.
Although a major improvement over the previous series of New Balance adventure shoes, the 701 never managed to keep New Balance’s high standards of quality.
