K-Swiss Sneakers

K-Swiss (or Kswiss) is a footwear manufacturer with a fantastic reputation. It is known all over the world for its high quality, comfortable and durable sneakers.

It was founded in 1966 by two Swiss brothers, Art and Ernie Brunner. They became passionate about tennis when they first came to America, in the early 60s.

The two former top skiers found tennis as a pleasurable activity in the hot, sunny California. However, they realized that the canvas shoes that were used in this sport at the time were not offering any quality and didn’t allow a huge performance.

So they set on to create their own performance shoe, the K-Swiss Classic sneaker. Introduced in 1966, it still is to this day one of the most popular tennis shoes of all times.

It was the first sneaker to use a shock-absorbing insole. Although quite expensive, tennis players loved it and it instantly put K-Swiss on the top shoe manufacturers list.

The stripes that you can see on the Classic model and others aren’t just for the looks. They actually prevent the shoe from stretching, making it more durable and reliable.

As I mentioned earlier, K-Swiss sneakers are recognized as some of the most durable shoes available. They are also very comfortable.

The most popular models, besides the Classic, are the Ramli, Gorzell and Celano.

A cool thing is that you can actually customize your K-Swiss sneakers by choosing the color combinations, various models of laces and even add graffiti on it. The company encourages it, to allow you to express your individuality.

They call it “Tongue Twister”.

Besides the regular tennis shoes, the company manufactures a distinct line of slip-on shoes through its subsidiary “Royal Elastics”. It focuses on the use of innovative and simple elasticized / stretch-fit closure systems to fasten the shoe to the foot.
