Etnies Sneakers

Etnies is one of those brands that are highly involved inthe action sports world. They’re best known for their skateboarding sneakers, but they’re into every other activity which can easily break your hands or knees.

I was checking earlier their website and I couldn’t not notice how they’ve organized their sports teams. I’m not making stuff up. They actually have Skate, Surf, Snow, BMX, Moto-X, Auto and Girls teams??

Hahaha, these guys are nuts! I’m sure there’s a perfectly logical explanation for this (like most girls having absolutely nothing to do with sports or who knows 🙂 ), but it’s still not very nice. Not in respect to girls or boys!

The coolest moments in the history of Etnies sneakers

Etnies has a  history of about two and a half decades. Skater Alain “Platoon” Montagnet founded this company in ’87 with the name Ethnics, changing it one year later to Etnics. That same year Etnies hosted its first skateboarding championship, “The Authentic Skate Weekend”.

One year later, they’ve launched the Senix Pro model which was about four times as durable than anything else on the market thanks to it’s super strong sole, made out of the same rubber used in the Goodyear Indy 500 tires. Other cool models that come out about now are the Rap High-Top, the Ollie King, the E and the EZ.

One of their coolest sneaker models was Sal 23, designed by pro skater Sal Barbier in 1994.

In 1997, Etnies opens an office in Switzerland  and launches the Trek and Emir models. The first was a waterproof sneaker, appropriate for all terrains, while the lather was a classier one.

Oh, and since I was talking about girls, their first all girl collection was launched in 1999.Etnies Sneakers
