Chuck Taylor Sneakers

Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers are Converse’s most popular footwear line. They were first manufactured almost 90 years ago, in 1917, but they didn’t enjoy a huge success right from the start.

They really kicked off when the hugely popular Baseball star Chuck Taylor became they’re number one supporter. He soon signed a deal with Converse to promote his favorite sneakers.

He gave these shoes his name, thanks to which they are known these days simpy as ‘Chucks’. Chuck himself contributed to design three of the Chuck Taylor All Star Sneakers that appeared over the years.

They have seen periods of high and low popularity, notable being the punk movement of the late 70s, the grunge and rap movement of the early 90s and these days, many of the growing ‘emo’ scene wear them.

They’ve become a fashion statement for many of their owners. While initially being sold only in black and white, following numerous requests from Chuck Taylor sneaker fans, Converse decided in the 60s to release Chucks in a wider range of colors, which has continually expanded to this day.

Different cultural movements prefer different color combinations. For instance, the punk trend was to use the black and white combination, while indie and alternative fans prefer khaki or even pink. There’s a Chuck Taylor sneaker for everyone’s taste.

These days, you can find Chucks and fakes everywhere. I remember a few years ago, I was so happy that I found a pair at an extraordinary price, less than half of the originals, only to be hugely disappointed when the sole took off only a few weeks later.

So make sure you buy chucks from a trusted place, or you’ll end up like I did, with a pair of worthless fakes. Amazon.com is one of the most trusted retailer in the world, so you should check it out.
